Former Gloucester Twp. councilman E.T. Lawrence to run for
Assembly
by Pete McCarthy, Gloucester County Times
One-half of the Republican Party's slate of
candidates to run for Assembly in the 4th District was set Thursday night
when party leaders announced a former Gloucester Township councilman as
their choice.
One-time Democrat Eugene “E.T.” Lawrence, 56, will run for the statewide
office with a yet to be determined candidate from Gloucester County.
Lawrence served on the council from 2000 to 2006 and wrote the first
Affirmative Action policy for the township.
Lawrence and the other Republican candidate are expected to challenge
Assemblyman Paul Moriarty, D-4, of Washington Township, and a yet to be
determined running mate. First-term Assemblywoman Sandra Love, D-4, of
Gloucester Township, announced earlier that she would not seek
re-election. All seats in the state Assembly are up for grabs this
November.
The 4th District includes portions of Gloucester and Camden counties.
